Label Applicator

Label Applicator (LA) automated labelling systems apply pre-printed pressure-sensitive labels onto products. They differ from “Label Printer Applicators” (LPA), which print the information, then attach the label. Label Applicators (LAs) are sometimes also known as in-line applicators.

Typically, label applicators are used to apply primary labels to all shapes and sizes of retail products, although they can also be used to apply promotional or marketing labels on to pre-labelled retail packs. They can also be used to apply pre-printed barcode labels on to cartons or trays.  This offers businesses a cost-effective alternative to the manual “slap-and-ship”.

Label Applicator Machines in Action

Label Applicators (LAs) are used for human and machine-readable information. They can apply labels to a flat surface, tapered or round, and are often required to apply up to 4 labels to one product simultaneously.

Without the “print” technology of an LPA, they tend to be lower cost for simple applications.

Matthews have labelling technology available from both Avery Dennison (from Germany) and Impresstik (from Australia). Our extensive product range and experience allows us to meet simple applications applying one label at very low speeds, up to multiple label applicators at speeds approaching 900 labels per minute.

Avery ALS
These are used to apply pre-printed labels, typically via WIPE On, to almost any size or shape substrate with precision.
Impresstik
Impresstik automated labelling machines are mainly used for high-speed applications, right down to more basic requirements.
