Thermal Transfer Overprinters (TTO)
Thermal Transfer Overprinters (TTO) are used for coding on to flexible packaging films and self-adhesive labels. They operate by means of a high resolution thermal print-head, which melts a wax and/or resin based ink from a very thin thermal transfer ribbon (or “foil”) coating onto the substrate to be printed.
They are typically used in the snackfood, confectionary and fresh produce sectors. Common uses are for printing simple date codes and batch codes, however they also have the capability to print logos, product descriptions, ingredients lists, nutritional panels and fully compliant barcodes.
Advantages of Linx TTO Technology
Linx TTO’s have been designed for efficient coding onto flexible packaging and labels. The patented ribbon-drive system gives real benefits on your factory floor: it minimises ribbon breakage so you don’t need to spend time waiting for the coder to be back up and running before you can get on with production. Reduced downtime and maximised ribbon economy keep your business running.
The 3 printers in the Linx TTO range (TT3, TT5, TT10) all feature a full colour touch screen display, which provides you with WYSIWIG message display, simple message editing, consumable usage status, production counts and on-board diagnostics. Print widths range from 32mm for the TT3 model, 53mm for the TT5 and 107mm for the TT10. The TT5 model has an optional IP65 wash down protection rating, perfect for wash down environments.
The Linx TT5 and TT10 printers can be networked in to our iDSnet Packaging Code Management software solution.
