It’s getting closer. The triennial APPEX event kicks off next month, and here at Matthews Australasia we’re gearing up for our biggest show yet.

APPEX 2024 is Australia's largest processing and packaging expo, bringing the entire industry together across four days at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre from 12-15 March 2024.

Big things are brewing at Matthews, and we can’t wait to reveal our latest insights, innovations and technology.

Here’s a sneak peek of what we have in store:

Retailer Engagement Hub

This year we’re introducing something to appeal to all visitors – our Retailer Engagement Hub. In partnership with the Australian Food & Grocery Council’s Trading Partner Forum (TPF), we'll be hosting short specialist presentations on the Matthews stand throughout APPEX.

Across three days, you’ll hear speakers from Woolworths Group, Coles, Metcash, GS1 Australia, AFGC and FreshChain Systems. You’ll gain insights on topics across retailers’ supply chains, current and future packaging trends, and of course, 2D barcoding.

Ten 15-minute sessions will run each day from 10:30am to mid-afternoon. Stay tuned for the full schedule coming soon.

New, world-leading technologies

Over the years, APPEX has been our launching ground for lots of innovative solutions, from new coders and label printer applicators to remote diagnostic and support solutions and our new strategic partnership with FreshChain Systems in 2022.

2024 is no exception.

We have three new world-leading technology launches that are real game-changers for the industry. This includes an exciting announcement for our iDSnet package coding software to deliver more up-time and ensure the right code gets on the right package, first time, at all levels of packaging.

We will also be demonstrating new technologies alongside our existing intelligent product ID and traceability hardware and software solutions.

One of the best things about APPEX is the ability to see the latest technologies in action, and our stand will showcase a huge range of coding, labelling and inspection solutions, with experts on hand to answer questions.

Get certified knowledge at the Barcode Academy

Our Barcode Learning Centre has come a long way since its launch in 2019. The online toolkit has helped hundreds of Australian manufacturers with up-to-date barcode knowledge so they can confidently supply products to the major supermarkets, including Woolworths, Coles and Metcash.

Now we’re taking the Barcode Learning Centre to the next level with our new education program: the Barcode Academy.

Developed with the major retailers, our free, online education program helps manufacturers unlock even more value from our existing Barcode Learning Centres (including our 2D Barcode Learning Centre) and ensure their barcodes and labels are compliant with retailer standards.

At APPEX, we’ll be revealing all the details of how it works – and why you should enrol to improve your compliance.
