A thermal inkjet (TIJ) coder uses a cartridge containing an ink reservoir and a series of resistive elements. Each element is activated by an electrical current which, when applied, heats the ink in contact with the element. This forms an ink droplet, which is then ejected out of the faceplate nozzle precisely onto the substrate to form the desired image.
Because the dwell time between firing is only 100 millionth of a second and with a throw distance of 1-2mm, TIJ technology is extremely fast and easy to use.
